Art for Prabhat
Poster designed by

Art for Prabhat was initiated in 2001 as a novel way of promoting the handmade archival quality art paper made by the young employees with mental retardation who were working at the Society for Child Development's Production center. Suneet Chopra, the well-known art curator, invited artists to use this fine paper to create beautiful works of art.

The inaugural exhibition was opened by Sonia Gandhi who blessed the youngsters for the years ahead of them.

Over time, the enthusiastic response of the ever-growing circle of our participating artists led us to evolve our first intrepid foray into the exciting world of art to a perennial event.

The patronage of the collector, without whom this effort remains a dream, helps sustain the many activities of the Society for Child Development, which reaches hope and support to persons with mental and physical disabilities across India.

Art for Prabhat stands testimony to the spirit of a movement that strives to develop a strong society, where the community in its collective strength joins hands with those who may not be accepted as equal human beings to bring them at par by acknowledging their invisible efforts.
